Bayelsa State Imposes Total Ban on Illegal Mining Activities, Voids Unauthorized Community Agreements
The Bayelsa State Government has implemented a comprehensive ban on all unauthorized and illegal mining operations across the state's territory.
In a decisive move to curb environmental degradation and revenue loss, the government issued a stern warning to community leaders and traditional rulers, strictly prohibiting them from entering into any Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with illegal miners.
Furthermore, the State declared that any existing agreements or MoUs previously signed between community stakeholders and illegal operators are immediately null and void.
