Saudi PIF Vows 'Whatever It Takes' to Land Unsettled Liverpool Star Mohamed Salah in January Transfer Window

The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) is prepared to do "whatever it can" to recruit unsettled Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah during the upcoming winter transfer window, a source within the kingdom's sovereign wealth fund confirmed to AFP on Tuesday.

This ambitious declaration signals an aggressive new push by Saudi football authorities, who are closely monitoring the Egyptian star's current situation amid reports of an ongoing standoff with the Liverpool club hierarchy.

"We follow Salah's position thoroughly and believe there can be a move either by loan or buying his contract," the PIF source stated, who spoke on condition of anonymity. While the source noted that there are "still no direct negotiations or talks with the club at the moment," they emphasized that a formal approach will be made "at the right moment."

The wealthy Gulf monarchy aims to secure the Egyptian winger in January to join the growing list of global superstars, like Cristiano Ronaldo, already competing in the Saudi Pro League.

PIF holds a controlling 75% stake in the league's top four clubs—Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad. However, the source highlighted that competition for the Arab world's biggest football icon is not exclusive to these clubs, with interest also coming from Al Qadsiah, a club affiliated with state-owned oil giant Aramco.

This renewed pursuit comes as Salah, a crucial figure in Liverpool's recent Premier League and Champions League triumphs, has been recently sidelined and reportedly expressed feelings of being "thrown under the bus" by the club.
