LASU Bans 'Unauthorised' Filming After Viral Skit Controversy: New Campus Content Creation Rules

Lagos State University (LASU) clamps down on student content creators, issuing a decisive directive that immediately bans unauthorised filming and content creation across all its campuses.

The move by the university administration follows the widespread circulation of a controversial student-produced skit that recently went viral online, igniting a significant public debate and attracting unwanted attention to the institution.

Effective immediately, any student, staff, or affiliate wishing to produce video content including short-form skits, vlogs, and creative projects must secure formal, prior approval from the relevant university authorities. 

The institution states this stringent measure is necessary to maintain decorum, safeguard the university's image, and prevent the creation of content deemed controversial, misleading, or damaging to the LASU brand.

This new policy signals a major shift in the campus environment, bringing an end to the casual, on-the-spot content creation that has become a staple for many student influencers. 

Students are now facing a tougher regulatory landscape as the university seeks to exert greater control over its digital representation.
