Nigerian Troops Thwart ISWAP VBIED Attack on FOB Mairari, Neutralizing Two Suicide Bombers in Borno

Nigerian military forces have achieved a significant victory against the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), successfully repelling a brazen terrorist attack on the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mairari in Borno State.

The attempted incursion, which sought to breach the vital security position, was decisively crushed by the vigilant troops. 

The frontline defenders, utilizing swift tactical responses, managed to intercept and neutralize two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs)—a signature and highly destructive tactic often employed by the terrorist group. The effective neutralization of these suicide vehicles prevented what could have been a catastrophic loss of life and equipment.

Following the routed attack, a meticulous follow-up operation was conducted. This sweep led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and other critical items, underscoring the disarray of the fleeing insurgents.

This successful defense not only safeguarded the FOB but also delivered a powerful blow to ISWAP's operational capacity in the region.
