In a detailed public statement, Ola of Lagos clarified that he was only a tenant, having leased a section of the facility for his car business operations and content creation, and never asserted ownership of the main structure.
"I need to clear the confusion circulating on social media concerning the demolition of my car lot. I never claimed I was the owner of the Skywise Group property. I only leased a section for my business," he stated.
He emphasized that the demolition, carried out by the Lagos State Government, was due to safety and structural violations and was a regulatory action, not a targeted attack against him or his brand.
Despite the setback, the influencer remains optimistic, assuring supporters that his business is still operational and a "Bigger and better" new showroom is planned.
The owners of the demolished structure, Skywise Group, corroborated Ola of Lagos's account. The firm's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Elvis L. Abuyere, confirmed that the property was wholly owned by Skywise Group, and only a portion had been leased to Ola of Lagos for his content creation and car display activities.
The firm stated that the demolition was part of the Lagos State Government's broader enforcement efforts, which they suggested were related to clearing access routes for new waterway development or compliance with building regulations under high-voltage power lines.
