Nigerian Army Pledges Firm Action Against Personnel Culpable in Kebbi Schoolgirl Abduction Security Breach

The Nigerian Army has issued a strong commitment to investigate and take firm disciplinary action against any personnel found responsible for the alleged withdrawal of soldiers from the Maga community in Kebbi State.

This swift declaration follows a serious security lapse that reportedly occurred just before the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from the community. 

The Army’s leadership acknowledges the gravity of the allegations, which suggest that the unauthorized or premature withdrawal of security forces may have created a vulnerable window exploited by criminal elements.

Key Focus: The integrity of military operations and the protection of vulnerable communities, particularly schools, remain paramount. This investigation seeks to ensure accountability and prevent future operational failures.

A high-ranking military source confirmed that a thorough internal inquiry has been launched to establish the facts surrounding the troop redeployment (or withdrawal) from Maga prior to the tragic incident. 

The probe will examine standard operating procedures (SOPs), communication logs, and the decision-making process that led to the reported security gap.

The Army emphasized that such negligence, if proven, constitutes a severe breach of trust and duty. Any soldier, officer, or commander implicated in the culpable withdrawal will face the full force of the military justice system.
