Lineker's Verdict: Arsenal's Title Hopes Hang on Star Striker's Goals

Legendary England forward and pundit Gary Lineker has publicly stated that Arsenal's bid to win the Premier League title is heavily reliant on new striker Viktor Gyokeres finding his goalscoring form.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker pinpointed the Swedish international's current goal drought as the major concern that could prevent Mikel Arteta's side from finally lifting the trophy, a feat they haven't achieved since 2004.

Despite an impressive £64 million move from Sporting CP, where he boasted an incredible record of 97 goals in 102 matches, Gyokeres is currently enduring a difficult spell. Lineker noted that the striker has gone seven games in all competitions without a goal for the Gunners.

"Viktor Gyokeres is going through a bit of a bad spell," Lineker commented. "I think for Arsenal to really realise their ambitions, he's going to have to start scoring a lot of goals."

Arsenal, who have finished as runners-up for the last three seasons, currently sit three points clear at the top of the table. However, Lineker believes their successful title challenge hinges on an upturn in form from their key attacking signing in the coming fixtures.
