Waldrum Challenges NFF: Where is the $960k FIFA Payment for 2023 Women's World Cup Prep?

Former Super Falcons Head Coach, Randy Waldrum, has escalated his dispute with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), publicly challenging the body over the alleged use of a substantial FIFA grant.

Waldrum is demanding transparency regarding a $960,000 payment (approximately N1.45 billion) which was reportedly disbursed by FIFA to the NFF in October 2022.

This crucial fund was specifically designated for the Super Falcons’ preparations and logistics leading up to the 2023 Women’s World Cup hosted in Australia and New Zealand.

The American tactician, who successfully guided the team to the knockout stages, has consistently highlighted the Super Falcons' poor preparations and chronic financial challenges faced by the squad throughout his tenure.

"FIFA sent the Nigeria Football Federation $960,000 in October 2022 for our World Cup preparations. Where exactly did that money go? The players and staff received minimal support, yet this substantial fund was clearly intended for that purpose," Waldrum stated in a recent interview.

This development adds a new layer to the ongoing issues of financial accountability within Nigerian football, putting intense pressure on the NFF leadership to provide a detailed, itemized report on the expenditure of the $960,000 World Cup preparation grant.
