IGP Visits Kebbi: Vows Swift Action on Maga Community Abductions

Upon his arrival, the IGP held an immediate closed-door meeting with the Kebbi State Governor, nasir idris, top security commanders, and key stakeholders. The focus of the discussions was the urgent need for a renewed, intelligence-led strategy.

A major outcome of the visit is the immediate deployment of specialized tactical units to the affected areas. These units, which reportedly include personnel from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and the Special Tactical Squad (STS), are mandated to conduct extensive search-and-rescue operations and restore lasting peace to the Maga community.

Addressing members of the Maga community, the IGP offered a message of reassurance and solidarity. He acknowledged the pain and distress caused by the ongoing kidnapping crisis and affirmed that the safety of lives and property remains the paramount focus of the NPF.

"We understand your suffering. The Nigeria Police Force will spare no effort in ensuring the safe return of your loved ones. We are here not just to visit, but to guarantee a decisive end to these criminal activities in Kebbi State," the IGP stated.

To successfully address the root causes of the insecurity, the Inspector-General emphasized the critical role of community support. He urged residents of Maga and other vulnerable communities in Kebbi to cooperate fully with the police and other security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence.

This proactive approach is crucial for disrupting the operations of the bandits and kidnappers who exploit local terrain and intelligence gaps. The NPF has established dedicated hotlines for confidential security tips.
