MPAC Critiques Nigeria High Commission London's Choice of Church-Owned Venues for December 2025 Passport Intervention Exercise

In a pointed statement, the Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has taken a strong stance against the Nigeria High Commission in London for its controversial venue selection for the December 2025 Passport Intervention Exercise.

MPAC's primary objection centers on the alleged religious bias in the High Commission's choices, noting that multiple scheduled locations including venues in Birmingham, Swansea, Cardiff, and Glasgow are reportedly linked to prominent Christian religious organisations. 

The group argues that utilizing sectarian, church-owned buildings for a national public service undermines the principle of neutrality and may deter some Muslim and non-Christian Nigerian nationals in the United Kingdom from accessing essential consular services like passport renewal.

MPAC has urged the High Commission to immediately rescind these choices and re-select venues that are explicitly secular and accessible to all members of the Nigerian diaspora to uphold the country's constitutional commitment to religious freedom and non-discrimination.
